Amazing Art!

Hi everyone!
I hope you've all had a great holiday and are looking forward to coming back to school. I've been in at school getting ready for the term and today I put our Hungry Caterpillars up on the wall.

Don't they look awesome? What do you think?
Looking forward to seeing you all on Monday!

Amazing Writers

Welcome to the blog for 2015! We have made a great start to the year in Room 4 and have been working hard.
I have been really impressed with our writing in Room 4. We have been writing about our experiences and learning what makes a good recount. Our Writing Wall has got some awesome published recounts on it, make sure you come and check them out!

Can you tell everyone the parts of a recount?

What is your favourite activity on the i Pads?

Maori Village School Visit

On Thursday the whole school went to Rotorua to visit a Maori village called Whakarewarewa. We had a great time and learned a lot! Thanks to all the parents who took their cars and came with us. Here's some photos from the trip ...

The archway in - we learned how to say the big Maori name!
One of the HOT pools

The water flowing into the baths - it was so warm!
The Maori oven they use to cook their food
The Marae - look at all the amazing carvings

The awesome cultural performance
The Haka!
Yay! What a fun trip!

Amazing Writers!

I have been so impressed with everyone's writing since they have come back from the holidays! This week we published our recounts from either the weekend or the holiday. It was a hard choice to find the best piece of writing to publish because they were all so great!
Two people in the class had such amazing writing I couldn't choose so they published both! Check out Jack and Indie's recounts. They have used lots of detail, descriptive adjectives, similes, direct speech, interesting punctuation and some humour. Wow!

Peer Tutoring

This term we have been busy doing Peer Tutoring, where we learned how to be Tutors and Readers. Peer Tutoring has really helped us with our reading strategies and we are so  proud of the progress we have made! Check out this video we made all about Peer Tutoring!
