Amazing Writers!

I have been so impressed with everyone's writing since they have come back from the holidays! This week we published our recounts from either the weekend or the holiday. It was a hard choice to find the best piece of writing to publish because they were all so great!
Two people in the class had such amazing writing I couldn't choose so they published both! Check out Jack and Indie's recounts. They have used lots of detail, descriptive adjectives, similes, direct speech, interesting punctuation and some humour. Wow!

Olivia & Cruz, Sam & Jaimee and Preston & Wyatt reading with their buddies
Molly & Danae and William & Leo reading a book together
Logan & Lachie and Eric & Cole sharing a book
Conrad & Logan and Olivia & Stacie spending time with their buddies
Our buddy visits are going to happen every Friday with Room 7. What do you like to share with your buddy?

Firewise

For the past two weeks we have been learning how to be firewise. We have learned lots of important safety rules at school and at home. Today some firefighters came to talk to us, they showed us their special protective gear and checked we knew what to do if there was a fire. They were very impressed with how firewise we were!

NEW HOBBIT PLAYGROUND

This afternoon we had the official opening for our new Hobbit playground. Luckily the rain held off for us! The NZ flag was raised, we sung the national anthem, Matthew said a karakia, then Katie and Kyle cut the ribbon.

Then five lucky people from Room 4 got chosen to have a turn on the playground for the first time!

Next week everyone will be able to have a turn. What part of the playground are you most looking forward to having a go on?

Group Work in Room 4

We enjoy working in groups in Room 4!
This week we had to work with a group to draw around someone's body and then measure them.

We also had to work in a group to complete a reading activity and answer some tricky questions!
We have learned it is important to listen to each others' ideas, take turns and work co-operatively to achieve a goal.
What do you like about working in a group?

SPOT

This is Spot who is our special Room 4 dog. He gets to go home with the VIP every day and they can write a story about Spot and his adventures. If we take Spot home we must make sure we put him in our bags straight away and try to keep him clean. We always look forward to reading the Spot book each day and hearing what he got up to!
